Lesley Chiles - counselling and psychotherapy

Are you . . .

They are a few of the reasons why people seek therapeutic help
I could give you no advice but this: to go into yourself and to explore the depths where your life wells forth.”
Rainer Maria Rilke

WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE

I’m a UKCP registered psychotherapist practising in the area of Looe, Cornwall.

I provide a safe and confidential environment for you to bring your concerns and experiences, relate your history, and explore your problems and issues. As you tell your story and receive an empathic and non-judgmental response you will be able to work through painful feelings and clarify confusing thoughts; this leads to a new perspective on what troubles you and a deeper connection to who you are and to what is meaningful for you.

The work can be short term where a particular issue in your current life is focused on and addressed. If longer term work is desired then we will take a deeper look at underlying patterns and influences in the journey of your life. This can lead to a widening of perspective and a shift in your way of being in the world, a more authentic dialogue between your inner self and your outer life.

reasons to seek help include

  • emotional problems
  • stress and anxiety
  • depression
  • relationships
  • loss and bereavement
  • eating disorders
  • addictions
  • sexuality
  • loss of meaning and direction
  • mid-life issues
  • life thresholds and transitions
  • spirituality

MAKING CONTACT

If you decide to contact me we will arrange an initial session where you can get an impression of me and tell me more about the concerns that are troubling you or what you may be seeking. We can then find a mutual time to meet weekly if you decide to go ahead.

Short term work can sometimes take only 6 to 12 sessions. If longer term therapy is indicated, and you decide to continue, we can review at intervals suited to you. If you decide you want to end the therapy at any point we will discuss where we have got to and then plan an ending.

MY APPROACH

I work holistically taking all aspects of the individual into account: mind, body, emotions, soul and spirit. The depth and breadth of this perspective can help you connect to your innate wholeness and can unlock potential you are not yet aware of.

I am able to call on a variety of therapeutic models and this enables me to meet each individual in a unique and flexible manner. These methods include looking at your early life; becoming aware of patterns that have been established and are impacting on your current life and relationships; revealing what you would like to see emerging in the future.

I like to work with dreams, story, myth and visualisation of images, these are a way of accessing inner sources of wisdom, the unconscious and the deeper self, leading to enrichment of your daily experiences and connections. The embodied therapeutic relationship will be our container for this work, within a perspective of the social, cultural and collective environment.

SUPERVISION

I provide individual supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists, both in training and qualified.
